Engineers and designers from across the energy industry see leading companies present latest advances in simulation driven design

LEAMINGTON SPA, Warwickshire, - September 11, 2014 – Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services empowering client innovation and decision-making, today announced that Altair UK’s ‘Reducing Risk and Increasing Reliability’ Seminar (www.altairhyperworks.co.uk/energy) attracted engineers and simulation experts across the energy industry to Aberdeen to see renowned companies of the branch showcase examples of designs optimised using Altair’s leading innovative technology.

CAE simulation and optimisation continues to be an outstanding way to study and improve problems in the energy industry. Altair’s simulation technology HyperWorks is being used by leading companies as a key part of the product development process to discover more efficient ways to meet the world’s growing energy needs. HyperWorks is enabling these companies to reduce the design process while increasing robustness of their designs in an affordable and reliable way.

Atkins, BP, Chevron, NOV, Technip and The University of Edinburgh showcased the successful application of Altair’s technology on their designs. Nathalie Descusse-Brown from BP presented “Structural Response of Drilling Riser Due to Riser, Drilling Fluid and Drillpipe Interaction”, illustrating how collaborating with Altair greatly impacted their work by increasing the reliability of their designs. Dean Thornton from Chevron demonstrated Mechanical Earth Modelling, and Dean Coyle from Technip Umbilicals explained how HyperWorks helped reduce overall project time from initial analysis to final design on umbilical structures.

Joe Duran from Fujitsu presented the latest innovations in HPC and how it can power the future for energy provision, and Ian Littlewood spoke about how Altair’s PBS Works can offer powerful state-of-the-art HPC solutions which enables energy companies to increase efficiency, deliver fast results and contain costs on their development processes.

“It was useful to see Altair’s HyperWorks in action in wider examples”, said Mahir Abdullayev from Technip, and Adekola Obayomi from Prospect Flow Solutions added: “The event presented technical and informative solutions in a concise manner.”
