Altair to host Altair Partner Alliance (APA) partner Componeering at its booth

Troy, MI, February 11, 2014 – Altair, announced today that it will present its solutions for the design and optimization of composites at this year’s European JEC show, from March 11-13, 2014 in Paris. In addition to its computer-aided engineering (CAE) software suite HyperWorks, the company will also showcase examples of composite components, designed and optimized with its solutions, present case studies, and host partner Componeering. Componeering specializes in structural analysis and composite structures design. The company is well-known for ESAComp, a software project for the analysis and design of composites initiated and supported by the European Space Agency (ESA).

The three-step process to optimize the design of laminate structures, which Altair presents in Paris, is based on the company’s experience in structural optimization. Thanks to this process, the complexity of composite materials becomes manageable and the design of components made of composites is more robust. The process establishes an optimized material-usage design and ensures that components made from composites can exploit their full lightweight potential.

“The JEC show, being recognized as the Number 1 composites event in the world, is becoming increasingly important for us,” said Mauro Guglielminotti, managing director of Altair Southern Europe. “As composite material is used in many industries to fully exploit the lightweight potential of each product, the engineers need applicable tools and methods to design those complex new materials. Altair’s simulation-driven design method and optimization tool OptiStruct offer unique possibilities to enhance the performance of the product while keeping development and production costs down.”

The APA effectively extends the HyperWorks platform from more than 20 internally developed solutions to upwards of 50 applications with the addition of 3rd-party partner applications. Customers may invoke these specialized applications at no incremental cost using their existing HyperWorks licenses. Other APA partners presenting their solutions at JEC Europe 2014 include Anaglyph and e-Xstream. Further information about the APA may be found at Altair’s JEC Europe booth: 7.3 N 78.

“We are very happy to welcome Componeering to our booth, as their solution is already available via the HyperWorks licensing system,” Guglielminotti adds. “Their solution ESAcomp complements our product offering by adding depth of expertise in composites modelling and analysis.”

Altair will support other composite-related events in 2014 for a full list of all Altair events please visit: www.altair.com/events.

From June 24 – 26, 2014 Altair will host the 7th European Altair Technology Conference in Munich. The event will present a broad variety of engineering topics, including the design and optimization of composite materials and components.
