2013 Americas Altair Technology Conference Will Feature Global Experts in Simulation Trends for Aviation and Automotive

Premier engineering event set for Oct. 1-3 in Garden Grove, Calif.

Top engineers from world-leading aviation and automotive companies will highlight their application of simulation-driven design and optimization to emerging industry challenges during keynote presentations at the
2013 Americas Altair Technology Conference
(ATC). The ATC is the premier annual event for the advanced manufacturing, product design, science, HPC, and enterprise-computing communities. The complimentary three-day conference offering insight into computer-simulation trends and best practices is scheduled for Oct. 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency in Garden Grove, Calif.
Four industry experts
will explore simulation’s widening role in in the design process during their keynote addresses:
, Boeing chief engineer of weight engineering in the BCA Flight Sciences organization, will review opportunities and challenges of introducing composites into the 787 airplane design and the value of simulation in the process.
, Honeywell Aerospace chief of structures, will detail evolving trends in the structural optimization of gas turbine engines through computer-aided engineering.
Dr. Jayaraman Sivakumar
, senior manager of the engine structures component design and analysis department at GM Powertrain, will discuss the past, present, and future of analysis-led design.
, group manager for Toyota Japan, will present an application of coupled MBD and FEA full-vehicle simulation for car body durability analysis using HyperWorks.
The ATC brings together hundreds of professionals from across North America to share new developments, experiences, best practices and solutions to some of the largest and most complex problems in engineering, science, enterprise computing, HPC, and business analytics. The event features more than 50 user-led case studies and presentations citing examples of successful innovation and simulation. Also offered is the popular HyperWorks Tips & Tricks session, centering on the Altair suite of CAE software tools.
Additionally, the conference will include a gathering of all current
customers and partners for the Altair
PBS Works User Group
, which will highlight presentations and panel discussions from thought-leaders in high-performance computing. Fee-based pre-conference training will help users learn how to employ PBS Works solutions to their full potential, with a Sept. 30 hands-on introduction to creating and using PBS Works hooks and an Oct. 1 introduction to integrating applications within Compute Manager.
For the first time, ATC also will host an
Academic User Day
during the conference. This portion of the conference will provide university students, faculty and staff the chance to share their experiences with Altair solutions and to discuss the application of CAE methods in their academic research and course work.
