Altair Embed (formerly named VisSim) is a block diagram-based application used to model & simulate equations, automatically generate C code from any block diagram model, and interactively execute the C code model on microcontroller targets including those from STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi.
This course consists of four chapters each describing important use cases complete with worked examples and assignments.
Chapter 1 introduces block diagrams and how to create them using the Embed editor, commonly used blocks, and methods of representing model equations; continuous, discrete, or combinations of, as block diagram models.
Chapter 2 introduces embedded software development using Embed. This chapter uses the Arduino Uno microcontroller and various sensors and actuators. All of these hardware parts are included in the ELEGOO UNO Project Super Starter Kit available from Amazon for approximately $35.00 USD. This kit must be purchased separately for use in Chapter 2, 3, and 4.
Chapter 3 introduces state charts and their use in model construction, automatic code generation, and target execution.
Chapter 4 covers advanced features of the Embed application including interrupts, ultrasonic sensing, do-loops and more.
