Optimization using OptiStruct

This is an introductory course for using OptiStruct for optimization in the product design process. Students will learn optimization concepts and do hands-on exercises for topology, topography, size, and shape optimizations.

HyperMesh Introduction
OptiStruct for Linear Analysis

  • Topology, topography, size and shape optimization concepts
  • Pre-processing for OptiStruct using HyperMesh
  • Linear static and normal mode analysis with OptiStruct prior to optimization
  • Results visualization with HyperMesh and HyperView
  • Topology optimization with manufacturing constraints
  • Combined topology and topography optimization
  • Geometric data generation of new design concept using OSSmooth which is part of OptiStruct
  • Shape generation using HyperMorph which is a part of HyperMesh
  • 2D and 3D shape optimization
  • 1D and 2D size optimization
