HyperWorks for LS-DYNA

LS-DYNA Interfacing

This course helps students learn how to use HyperMesh to create and interface with LS-DYNA formatted models.

Class Format
  • 1 day
  • Instructor led
  • Presentation and hands-on exercises, one student to a computer
  • A basic knowledge of LS-DYNA
  • A basic knowledge of HyperMesh. It is recommended students complete the course Altair HyperMesh and HyperView, Modeling and Results Visualization Introduction.
  • If you are already familiar with HyperMesh, but not with HyperView, it is recommended you attend the course Altair HyperView, Results Visualization and Data Analysis Introduction.
  • Basic interfacing with HyperMesh
    • Using the LS-DYNA FE input translator and output template
    • Accessing LS-DYNA interface tools from the Macro Menu
    • Setting-up an LS-DYNA specific graphical user interface with the User Profile
    • Using on-line help
  • Understand how data in LS-DYNA input files is imported and organized
  • Review and modify LS-DYNA entities
  • Define parts, properties and materials
  • Define boundary conditions, loads, and constraints
  • Define sets and boxes
  • Relate LS-DYNA entities to HyperMesh element and load configurations
  • Define contacts, rigid walls and airbags
  • Define curves to define non-linear materials and loads
  • Define beams, joints and constrained nodal rigid bodies
  • Define *PART_INERTIA
  • View a summary of a model’s parts and create and edit parts using the Content Table tool
  • Define material type 100 spot welds
  • Define Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) keyword cards
  • Define control and output
